A British maker that never left home.

Born in a Yorkshire mill.

In 1977, Snugpak started life as a true cottage industry. Nearly fifty years on, we still design and make our sleeping bags and insulated clothing in an 1800s mill in the heart of West Yorkshire.

We go to extremes.

Our kit is trusted from Arctic ridgelines to family campsites. We build gear to withstand the harshest conditions, then test it well beyond where most people will ever take it.

Still made in Britain.

Snugpak is one of the last remaining manufacturers of sleeping bags and insulated clothing in the UK and across all of Europe. When a product says 'UK manufactured', we mean it.

From a single insulated vest in 1977 to award-winning gear trusted across the world — here's how the story unfolded.

1977

Snugpak is born, producing its first insulated vests as a true cottage industry.

1980

The Force 7 all-weather insulated jacket launches.

1983

Automated machinery is used in our workshop for the first time.

1987

Our exclusive Softie® insulation is developed.

1988

We introduce pack-size sleeping bags — small enough to take anywhere.

1990

Snugpak begins to become a force in the military.

1992

Our first fully automated sleeping bag & jacket production line opens.

1995

We help develop a diving suit for Weezle Diving.

1997

Snugpak goes international.

2000

The Weezle diving suit wins a Millennium Products Award.

2002

Snugpak wins the Queen's Award for Enterprise.

2006

The original owners retire, passing on the vision.

2008

We diversify into camping accessories.

2009

We win the Queen's Award again, presented by Princess Anne.

2011

Snugpak wins awards for best sleeping bag innovation.

2013

Awarded the Armed Forces Covenant ERS Silver Award.

2014

We manufacture the world's largest sleeping bag.

2016

New machinery is installed in the mill.

Snugpak wins Business of the Year awards.

We install a state-of-the-art automated quilting machine.
